Q: Is there a high maintenance cost for a 2002 Porsche Boxster?
How much would typical oil change cost? What about repairs and whatever else needed?
A: Absolutely. Porsche maintenance costs run about double or more the costs to maintain, say, a Camry.
Not only do the labor hours cost more, the parts cost a lot more. You can save money doing the work at an indepedent mechanic, and oil changes can be done anywhere that performs them (just make sure to use the right oil).
ALso, a Boxster will EAT through tires. My 2000 Boxster S went through new rears every 7500 miles, and expect at least $250 a tire to replace.
Lastly, keep in mind that Porsche's aren't Fords. You can't always go in, get a fix, and drive out that day. Parts often have to be ordred from Germany, and that takes time.
Q: About how long does it take to replace the water pump a 2002 Porsche Boxster?

cus i am and i dunno if i should.
rofl.

Q: BMW M3 or porsche boxster?? which is a better buy?
either a 2004 porsche boxster or a 2002 M3.
i am havign a hard time because i dont kknow if i shud buy a 2 seater car or a 4 seater. i want the 2 seater because its a porsche and i dont have to give people rides(im in high school) or the beamer the larger and according to my mom its better looking convertible. i believe the beamer is more powerful but wont the porsche go faster because its lighter? and plus its a PORSCHE, but its not a carrera i mean if it was no questin between the carrera and m3 its carrera. but the decision is based on a lifestyle....what do you guys think a 2 seater or the 2002m3 convertible which is more practicle and will not regret the purchase.
id appreciate it if people kept the insults out and just gave an honest truthful opinion. thanks

A: Personally, I prefer BMW. I have one and they don't call it the ultimate driving machine for nothing!
Q: How to bargain and how much to bargain when buying a used car?
I am looking to buy a used Porsche Boxster 2002 or 2003 with about 40-60k miles.
The offers vary between 22 and 30k. How should I bargain and how much should / can I bargain?
Thanks!
A: First, you will probably never know what a car lot owns their car for. The best place to start is with www.kbb.com. Book a car with ALL options (you can back the options that you will not be getting out later). Book at dealer trade-in value, private party value, and dealer retail. You will now have a starting place for vehicle cost.
All car lots take their vehicles in for some amount in relation to wholesale KBB less reconditioning, market value, and overall condition with the idea that the vehicle will be placed on the lot for retail at wholesale less market value (what is currently happening in the local market) and condition. Condition can be a plus or minus dollar amount. Pristine vehicles get top dollar on trade, not so nice vehicles that can be retailed but are not up to par receive less as a trade in, and usually are priced less for retail.
Having said all that what does it do for you? Well, with Book values in hand you will have an idea of how much profit a dealer may have in the vehicle. If it has a wholesale book of $20k and is priced at $25k there is probably close to $5k profit sitting there.
Now what? Use the wholesale book as your starting point and add some profit to it, make an offer and see what happens. You might offer somewhere between $300. and $1500.00 over wholesale, your call. Whatever you offer be prepared to say no to a counteroffer or enter into negotiations.
Most all vehicles are worth what the lot price is and the dealer is entitled to the profit, and if one paid that it's OK! However, we are trained and have learned to negotiate (actually the dealers created the negotiations more than 50 years ago) so we are always looking to get a lower price.

Q: my porsche boxster sort of squeaks and makes noises when driving slowly. Is it the convertible top?
It's not engine noise or anything, it sound likes it's the top maybe? the chassis or alignment (sorry I'm a girl I'm not sure what I'm saying) I notice it if I am slowing down to under 30 or 20 mph.
It's not VERY noisy, but is it normal?
It's a 2002 but it seems wobbly and rattling like an older car despite my dealer saying it has been inspected and is perfect. Or am I over reacting? Thank you!
I don't think it is the top. It doesn't do it at all at high speeds or anything accelerating. Only around town driving or slowing down to stop and going under 25. It sounds like an old horse & carriage you know really creaky.
A: I suggest that you go to the Web site for the Porsche Club of America (PCA) and find out the regional club that's closest to you. See if you can find an upcoming event for that regional club and go there with your car. You will find dozens of Porsche experts there who will be able to tell you exactly what is wrong with your car. They will even be able to tell you the best place to get it fixed -- which is not always a Porsche dealer.
From what you describe, it's a little hard to say what is making the noise. But an experienced Porsche person can tell you in 30 seconds with a test drive. See the link below for the PCA Web site.
Q: What sports car should I look at getting? 15-23 grand?
Hi all, I am looking for a used sports car. It wont be my first I have a 3000gt and now I am looking for something else.
I have basically narrowed it down to these manufactures
Chevy- 2002-2003 Z06 corvette drove a 02 and loved it. No back seat though..
BMW- I know some one will say BMW and its out of the question.
Pontiac- 2004 GTO I got to drive one of these and be the passenger it was nice comfy and had a back seat with a decent engine.
Porsche- I drove a 02 boxster and when ever I was on a turn I felt like the car was just readdy to slip right out from under me... It was nice though eh iffy.
Ford- I got to drive a ford GT I liked it allot not nearly as much power as the Z06 but it was nice flashy good looking.
So am I leaving out any real cars I should look at? Also would be cool to see your thoughts on the cars I am considering. Thank you all in head of time.

My friend has a 2001 M3 and it is soooo fast. it would easily rape a porsche boxster. trust me. the only reason ppl buy boxsters is too say they have a porsche

A: M3 and Boxter each handle around the same, if your looking for cargo M3 has more, you will need to gas up the M3 more than the Boxter, M3 will be a smoother ride but the Boxter is better in traffic, its basically a throw-up between the two cars except that ones a Porsche and ones a BMW. Looking for speed go with the bimmer, looking for prestige and to impress someone go with the newer Boxter.
