ALSO PLEASE TELL ME AN ESTIMATE OF HOW MUCH IS IT TO MAINTAIN A YEAR.

A: You've said you were buying everything from a "Ferrari 355" to a Cayenne, to a Lotus, to another Ferrari, and a 993. Now a Boxster? Really. Get serious. In one of your responses, you claimed to be a "PORSCHE EXPERT". So why are you asking all these questions about Porsche? What kind of question is "WILL IT START EVERY WEEK DAY AT 5 AM AND DRIVE 2 MILES A WAY AND STAY THERE FOR 6-7 HOURS AND START TO TAKE ME HOME WITH OUT A PROBLEM" Why are you wasting bandwith? If you ever want anything you post to be taken seriously here, you have to stop wasting peoples time.

Q: im might get a used porsche boxster........real old like 2001? how can i update it so it can compete?
i might get a Porsche boxster used one like a 2001-02 model don’t know if its s or just stock but its used. i wanted the car since 8th grade and now i think i might get it. not to jinx it i just had a few simple questions. the car being real old would be a lot different interims of appearance and performance compare to a 2008 model. the old ones liek the ones im going to get looks a bit feminine but i saw on youtube a boxster with a i believe ti said a aero kit or something it made it look real nice and i wanted one like that 1. so what is that about and how much is it where can i get it? being old again it lacks performance and power. I’ve heard of stuff like turbo charges supercharged twin turbo. what are all of those and which goes best in a boxster and how expensive are they? honestly i don’t want to turn my Porsche into a hummer guzzler so how will the the gas consumption change with these performance upgrades? which is best for a porsche boxster again? 3rd is should I change the mufflers to sound better? Again I always thought the sounds you hear from a super powerful car are because of the power it gives off rather than a fake tune up in the back to just make it sound like theres power. What’s your input on that and should I and how do I do it? ok well honestly my parents will buy me the ac rive been working since 7th grade and have saved up 9 grand which will all go towards the upgrades. My parents are totally ok with it my father says I will spend all this money and get bored of it the next day but I doubt it. I know there will be people cussing me out here telling me to get an education or your too young………please leave that out of this I know I’m more blessed than most teens but again I’m a blue collar boy trying to enjoy a bit of the white collar life. Thank you. Do you think I have enough for all my upgrade desires? How much will it all be and what else do you think a Porsche boxster will need upgrading on? Thank you again.

A: Aerokit: There are a number of aerokits available for Boxsters from different manufacturers. Depending on the kit, the costs will be different... but in all likelyhood, it will be at least a few thousand dollars. Expect at list an equal amount for a good body shop to fit it and paint it. And also, as with all Porsches, expect an upgrade like this to make the car less valuable on resale, so be certain it is something you REALLY want. And stick to known, reputable brands (Ruf, TechArt, etc), as no-name kits, while cheap, while seldom have good fit, and most likely were never tested in wind tunnels, meaning you will be hurting the car's performance. Performance: lacking is a relative term... I've driven the original 2.5L Boxsters at track events and found them to be fantastic cars in completely stock form. With a skilled hand behind the wheel, they will turn very competitive lap times (and from my point of view, I actually find the earlier Boxsters to be funner to drive because they seem to be a purer sports car). But if you are looking to add capability to the car, the best places to look (after the driver) are the basic setup and the car's suspension (focus on the improving the Boxster's strengths). A good setup in terms of alignment and corner balancing will yield great results, as will suspension improvements like adjustable anti-roll bars. If you are looking for more power, there are some minor things that can be done, but the fact is, to do forced induction and "do it right," you would save money simply looking at a newer Boxster S. The "cheap" route of just adding a supercharger or such will be expensive, leave you with a less reliable car that needs other upgrades (suspension, brakes) to handle the added power, and be worth much much much less on resale... to do an upgrade like this correctly to keep the car's strengths, and reliability would likely run well more than you would spend buying the car in the first place. Muffler: There are a number of options... as to which sounds best, that will ultimately be a matter of personal choice. Stay to known premium brands, or custom made options from known Porsche tuners though, and you'll be more likely to wind up with one that is well made, trims some weight over the stock unit, and has a nice sound. Your financial situation will not cover the kind of upgrades you are looking for... and while Boxster prices make them attractive, you should also be aware that repair costs on this car will be costly as they will reflect it's original sale price, and not the current value (on the plus side, as long as they are properly maintained, they will be very reliable). If you are set on getting a Boxster - look for one that is in great condition (be picky - drive a few and get a handle on what one should be like before committing to buy any example); before buying, have a knowledgeable Porsche mechanic check it out. Once you have it, join PCA (Porsche Club Of America), attend some autocrosses (lots of fun and a great chance to know your car), and hold off making any upgrades or mods until you actually understand what your car can and can't do, and what you actually want it to do. With this experience (and the added knowledge of the people you'll meet in PCA), you'll make better choices and get much more out of the car.

Q: Porsche Boxster airbag light staying on..?
My husband recently purchased a 2001 Porsche Boxster S and the airbag light is wanting to stay on. To be honest I hate to take it to a dealer beacause I know it will cost. Any suggestions???

A: Disconnect the negative battery terminal, then quickly tap it against the positive side. Wait fifteen minutes and connect it again. If the light comes back on, you probably have a problem, a $50 hand held scanner can check to see what the trouble code is, and will make figuring out what the problem actually is far easier. Someone you know might have one already, borrow theirs, it'll be far less expensive. I had the same thing on my WRX Limited, and it turns out that the reason that the light was on was because of a sensor that detected whether the light was shut off or not. Both air bags would have retained full functionality, but of course it won't pass inspection like that. I took it back to the dealership and they replaced it on waranty.

A: A stick of dynamite should do the trick

Q: I need help deciding, you might be able to help, which car should I buy?
2001 Porsche Boxster 2001 Audi TT quatro 2002 Nissan 350z g35 looks cool and I like it, but they're kind of getting common.. well.. atleast around here..

A: I love Porsche but I hate the Boxter, audi TT is ugly. 350z I would say but I don't like any of the 3. How about a BMW M3

Q: honda civic type-r 2001-2004 model (EP3)?
Anyone got one? Any thoughts, advice, experiences? Possibly thinking of getting one. Either one of these, a BMW Z3 or an early Porsche Boxster. This seems the best option all round, (performance, reliability, running costs) but wanted some real world opinions. Thanks

A: z3 is a bit of a girls car unless its the m-tec,boxter por mans porky the honda civic type-r quick reliable ,bit juicy though

Q: What should I do car wise?
Right now I own a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. It is in very good condition, and it is my first car. I'm dead set on owning a Porsche Boxster, not a new one, just one a few years old by the time I graduate (2.5 years). Would it be too much if I was asking my family (2 step parents, 2 biological, and extended family) For my 18th Birthday, that Christmas, my 19th Birthday, and Graduation for the Porsche? Price range would be $20,000>. My parents and step parents combined net about $375,000 a year. I like the 350z, but I am not a big fan of the body style. Not an Infinity person.

A: My advice would be to focus on achievement, rather than asking for a free Porsche. But I'm just thinking of you - there's a lot at stake. You might want to think of yourself also. Your parents may not. My prediction is, if your parents think of your welfare, they won't do it.
