Q: 2008 nissan gt-r or 2008 porsche 911?

A: My own opinion, the porsche are more common and myself see a bout 3 everytime i take my car out, really to the point where people don't even look at them anymore. So for me i would want for that money the looks also as tit for tat on the cars overall, but the GT-R does offer some great abilities.

Q: I bought a 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo and?
Ok, stupid question. I bought this car and you would think they would be happy for the sale. The sales guy tells me this is too much car for a woman. Now I am 44 and I know how to drive decently. They told me it would be too much and would fishtail etc. Ok, well the computer chip stops that and so far ok. I got it up to 113 MPH today and that is the highest I have gotten it and I have had it 2 months. My problem is everywhere I go kids see this black sports car and try to race me. I never go fast so I guess you think it is a waste but I love the car. I am now not wanting to drive it. I have almost been hit numerous times with cars coming up wicked fast behind me and then a red light, I stop and they almost don't. It seems they want to beat me. I am not sure what car can beat me and don't care. I have had some nice mustangs try and who knows if the can. I am ready to park it and drive my audi. Is this too much car for me? Did I make huge mistake?

A: This is not a stupid question. You made a large investment in your auto and obviously given your knowledge of computer controlled traction control and skid control, you read up on the Turbo and know that it is a super-car. The sales guy is a fool. There are very good drivers out there that are women. In Drag racing, there were Shirley Muldowny, Ashley Force and Kitty O'Neil. In Indy type racing, Danica Patrick and Milka Duno race with the 'boys.' As of yet, I have not seen any scientific data that proves that men drive better than women due to physiological or anatomical differences based on gender. If I were making the purchase and the salesman said to me what he had said to you, then I would've given the commission to another salesperson and verbally blasted the sales-jerk with a tongue as spirited as the car you purchased. What he said was just dead wrong. A letter to Porsche America is justified. I would strongly suggest to any man or woman that when they buy a super-car that they enroll themselves into a performance driving school. This could be a weekend or even a full week of driving instruction and or track time depending on how much available time you have. Driving decently is not the question. There are people driving underpowered econo-boxes that get involved in accident after accident. Obviously you are not in that category, but wouldn't it be nice to better understand what your top of the line 911 can do? There are many reasons to enroll in a performance driving school. One reason is the thrill factor. When you were thinking about getting the Turbo and when first driving the car, I know you felt exhilarated. Performance driving schools that operate on closed-courses (racetracks) will help restore that same feeling. Not only are they fun do with your newest addition to the garaged family, but they will teach many aspects of spirited driving that you may not be aware of. By learning the ins and outs of your car, you will also be safer whether you are driving like a racer or driving Miss Daisy. There are many different styles of cars and a car that may be appealing to one may not be appealing to another. One person may only be interested in a car because it is fast when another may seem the same car and see a work of art and not just an autobahn screamer. When I was younger, I had a very heavy lead foot. In high school, my car would see 100+mph almost every day. When a family friend police officer gave me advice, I had to listen. He told me... Certain cars will always attract attention. Certain drivers will always attract attention. Some of the attention is good, but most of it is bad. He went on to say that if somebody is lining up to race, then you can race and hope to win by throwing caution to the wind or get under their skin by doing something totally opposite what they expect; drive even slower! Yes, I know what the driver's manuals state... you should always check your mirrors, but don't focus on what other people are doing behind you so much. Focus on YOU. You bought a car that you love. In addition to being a very fast car, the Porsche Turbo is a work of art. It is simply beautiful even when parked and not moving at close to its ridiculous top speed. The purchase of the Turbo is also a statement. You are obviously successful and able to purchase the Turbo when others are complaining about a souring world economy. This is yet another reason to be proud of your Turbo. You made it happen!!! If I were you, then I’d do a couple of things. First I’d tint the windows so that people outside couldn’t see who was driving. Screw the nosey-bodies. Let them wonder. Yes, window tinting is illegal in many states, but the fine is very cheap and there are no points with it. If you are stopped and questioned about your window tint, tell the officer that you were attracting too much attention and this was safer. The officer may write the ticket or might not. Even if the officer does, who cares; it is typically only a $50 fine. The second thing I’d do is enroll in a performance driving school. There is no better way to get familiar with your auto then to bring it to a track for structured learning. Some might even refer to it as getting intimate with their auto by learning how the auto leans, turns, slides and rebounds! (Laughing.) You never know how much fun you could have. Who knows, by the spring you might even consider weekend racing. The SCCA (Sports Cars Club of America) has a number of events all over the country that sets up courses with pylons and people race their cars against the stopwatch in a very safe environment. This is YOUR car. Drive it how YOU wish. At 44, you know that you cannot please everybody all the time. Why should this time be any different? It shouldn't. Most people could be jealous that you are driving the Turbo and not them.

Q: Which is better, the new Porsche 911 Turbo, the new GT3, or upcoming 2008 GT2?
I just saw the spy shots of the 2008 GT2 on Car and Driver. It says that the GT2 will be lighter and more powerful than the current Turbo. The current turbo can already go 0-60 in ~3.4 sec. Can the GT2 really beat that. Also, based on the specs, the GT2 is the fastest, then 911 Turbo, and finally the GT3; why is it then that Porsche chooses to name these models the way they do? Why is it that the "GT2's" get to be the fastest out of these three models? The 2 in GT2 makes it sound like a second place car. Finally, if the upcoming GT2 is faster than the Turbo, wouldn't the Carrerra GT owners be mad, since they paid for a slower and more expensive car than any of the three models mentioned above? What's going on with Porsche now? The new 911 look just came out and there's already spyshots of a new 2009 911 look?!?

A: the GT2 is the true true supercar of the 911 line. I would not be surprised if the GT2 ends up just as fast as the carrera GT. The turbo may accelerate to 60 as fast as or faster than the GT2, but the GT2 will be a much faster car (its lighter, and the turbo has AWD, giving it an advantage). the new GT2 will pretty much romp on all of the other cars in and above its price range (all of the lamborghinis, all current production ferraris, etc etc). the turbo and GT3 cost about the same, but have a different purpose. the GT3 is the track oriented, naturally aspirated car. The turbo is the heavier, AWD, turbocharged 911, designed more of as a street car (but still WICKEDLY fast and capable on the track). the GT3 has more performance per horsepower, but the turbo has more HP. theyre about the same speed (maybe not in a straight line, but on a track, where they were designed for). GT2 is the name of a class at lemans. It was named like that during the 993 model range (2 gens ago), but it was the top of the line, so they kept that name. the GT3 got the name for being after the GT2 (in speed). awkwardly, the GT3 RSR races in the GT2 class of lemans now. the carrera GT is significantly faster than the turbo and GT3. They wont be mad anyways. its an older car, and was built as a super high end supercar, not as a 911 competitor. and those spyshots are from autobild. theyre just worthless photoshops. autobild is filled with them. such a terrible magazine. and the new 911 came out in 05 actually... its been around several years now. hope i answered all the questions you had. If you have more, just keep asking and ill be happy to answer.

Q: Can a Mitsubishi Eclipse receive an engine transplant from a Porsche Carrera S?
If you're into engine modification of ur ride, can one replace a 2008 model Mitsu Eclipse's 3.8L DOHC 24V V6 engine rated at 263hp for a more muscular 3.8L DOHC 24V F6 (355hp) from a Porsche 911 Carrera S without extensive modification under the hood? Same displacement, same number of valves. Is it possible? Disregarding the costs, of course.

A: I would recommend putting the eclipse engine in the Porsche instead. Also make sure you put a 5 inch fart-can that drags the ground on the back, and, on the door, a graphic of a one-winged angel with a big fist punching a tax collector in the face. You would be the envy of all Porsche owners.

Q: If you had to choose a daily driver?
If you had to choose a car from this list ONLY and it was your daily driver come rain, sun, snow, or anything what would it be. Also what do you think looks the best. 1. 2008 Maserati Granturismo 2. 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo 3. 2008 Audi R8 4. 2008 Aston Martin DB9 Assuming gas and insurance don't matter. Serious answers only Thanks

A: Thats a easy answer, the Audi R8.

Q: 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S or 2009 Porsche Cayman S?
Carrera S http://media.photobucket.com/image/porsche%20911%20carrera%20s/rikzero/i1600x1200.jpg?o=15 Cayman S http://media.photobucket.com/image/porsche%20cayman%20s/johnnnnn_2008/PorscheCaymanS.jpg?o=11

A: I prefer the original shape of the 911 Carrera over the Cayman.

Q: Ladies/Girls - Age 22-28 - Which Car is Sexier? - Mercedes Benz SL500 or Porsche 911 Convertible?
So, I'm shopping for a new car and I can't decide between these 2. Of course there are other things to consider, reliability, insurance cost, etc. But, I'm curious what your opinion is. Which is sexier? ;-) Mercedes Benz SL500 http://autos.yahoo.com/2008_mercedes_benz_sl_class_sl550_roadster-pictures/ Or http://autos.yahoo.com/porsche_911_carrera_cabriolet-pictures/?tab=oem Porsche 911 Convertible Let me know which one you like better, and what color? (I'm thinking Black or Silver, but let me know what you think.) Update: Couple points worth clarifying... tempting_butnothanks - It's funny that you have nothing better to do than try to insult people on here. I'll point out a couple observations. 1. I looked at the last question you asked, "Do you tip at a Sonic burger joint?" That's too funny, you're trying to put me down for considering my insurance and upkeep on a Porsche or Benz, and you're trying to decide to give a car hop a couple bucks? And you're calling me broke? My guess is you're 16-20 years old. 2. I did live in a mobile home when I was young... I was also homeless my last 2 years of high school. After that, I put myself through college, started my first company when I was 19, was on the cover of Six Figure Income magazine when I was 22, and today (I'm 28) I travel the world (been around the globe 3 times so far this year), live in a Luxury high rise (there are several NBA and NFL players in my building), and.... I couldn't imagine eating at a Sonic! Yuk So, to answer your question tempting_butnothanks.... You're a baller! Reach into your deep pockets and give the girl a couple of your Benjamin's... I mean, George Washington's ;-) PPS - I'm very aware of the upkeep costs, that's why I've driven exclusively Lexus for the last 5 years or so. It's the most reliable luxury car on the road. While I love them, I'm just a little bored of them. PPPS - Just to drive the point home... I probably spend more on airfare in a couple months than you make in a year ;-) As for everyone else, thanks for the feedback. This was really just out of curiosity from a conversation with a friend who drives a Porsche 911. I wanted the Benz, primarily because it has a hard top convertible. The only other high end car that I know that has that would be the Lexus SC430... and I don't really like those. The Porsche would have an optional hard top, but not retractable. I also considered the BMW 6 series convertible, but again... soft top. And as for the age group I mentioned, again that came from the debate with my friend (and his girlfriend who is 26). I have dated recently girls as young as 19 and as old as 36. Age doesn't really matter to me, but I'd say I'd prefer 22-28.

A: Both excellent cars, but it'd have to be the Porsche! In black.

Q: 2008 Porsche Turbo Heated Seat?
My 911 has heated seats and they just stopped working a couple days ago. I tried the passenger seat it is also not working. They had been working fine. I know I will have to take it back to the dealership but was curious if by chance there could be any easy fix to this minor inconvenience?

A: you still have warranty on your 911, so don't worry about it. It may be the seat heating elements that could be faulty inside the seat skin or the seat memory control unit under the driver seat. Even if the fuse is blown, it wouldn't be a quick fix due to the fact that there may still lie a short circuit in wiring.

Q: what is the fuel economy on?
on the 2008 amborghini gallardo the 2008 porsche 911 GT2 and the 2008 ferrari f430 shut up ad

A: terrible (8/12) poor (12/16) terrible (8/12)

Q: I'm looking for an inexpensive mailing list (emails) to try to raise money for Diabetes....upscale list?
Raffle is for a 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera...... $ 70 per ticket....only 3,000 printed. Drawing June '08

A: I doubt you'll get a great response since anybody that is 'upscale' will be dubious at best about someone offering a car, sadly for whatever reason, via email. However I do wish you the best its a great cause.

Q: Dream Race?
Personally, my dream race is a 2008 Porsche 911 GT2, versus a Ferrari F430. (With me getting a chance to drive both). So, what's your dream race?

A: PORSCHE CARRERA GT Vs. LAMBORGHINI MURCIELAGO LP640. PORSCHE CARRERA GT Vs. FERRARI ENZO.

Q: Best car to own of the list?
Ok, what do you think is the sexiest car, or what would you be drawn to most if you saw a guy drive it? (Don't say car doesn't matter because you and I both know a guy driving a Ferrari is better than a Geo Metro) I am buying one of these so which would you like the most? -2008 Porsche 911 Turbo -2008 BMW 335xi Coupe -2008 Cadillac CTS -2008 Mercedes CL600, CL63AMG, or CL65AMG -2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo I'm aware these cars are vastly different classes but I'm looking for an opionion on fav. car. ***Women Only*** NO OTHER CAR SUGGESTIONS CHOOSE FROM THIS LIST thanks

A: Women (girls) don't understand or appreciate the Porsche Cayenne (SUV, ugly), or any Mercedes (not cute). They have some appreciation for BMW and Porsche 911. They think the Cadillac is still an old person's car even though it looks pretty cool and it's too big. Generally, girls like smaller "cute" cars. Of all the cars you mentioned, the Porsche 911 comes closest to what they like, if it's yellow, red, or white. It would be better if it came in pink, but then you might not want to drive it.

Q: Aaarrrggggggg!!!!!!!!!!.?
Well I jus recently got a 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera S about 5 days ago on my birthday by my mom, now the Problem is that my Cell Phone wouldnt Connect with the Car I have a Nokia E90 now you cant say that something is wrong with my cell phone because I jus got it 4days ago and you cant say its not Compatible hey its a $1000 cell phone. so can anybody help me before I have to take myCar to the Dealer? Thanks.

A: Suggestion 1: Revisit the basics of English... pay special attention to how a sentence is structured and what that whole pesky capialization thing is about (hint: you Do not just Randomly pick words to calitalize for no Reason). Suggestion 2: Drive the car!!! Driving the car does not require a cell phone; in fact, a cell phone will detract from the experience and should generally be either left at home or simply ignored when you're driving. Sidenote: The cost of the items involved will have nothing to do with their compatibility: RTFM.

Q: When crude oil becomes scarcer?
Once crude oil starts costing $200 a barrel. Is there a way to convert all existing gas reciprocating auto engines to run off of Ethanol? There is a quick way to produce ethanol by building "algae" farms that make bio mass directly into crude oil by some biological process. 1 acre produces around 50X as much bio-fuel as 1 acre of corn fields. But nobody ever hears about this because the Oil companies want to shelve the idea. It's called killing the competition. But back to the original question. How would this conversion be done? Aside from special fuel lines that don't corrode. What if you have a 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera S? How would you modify such a sophisticated engine like that?

A: The should improved the "World's Cleanest Car" by then. "BBC News is reporting that a French company has developed a pollution-free car which runs on compressed air. India's Tata Motors has the car under production and it may be on sale in Europe and India by the end of the year. The air car, also known as the Mini-CAT or City Cat, can be refueled in minutes from an air compressor at specially equipped gas stations and can go 200 km on a 1.5 euro fill-up -- roughly 125 miles for $3. The top speed will be almost 70 mph and the cost of the vehicle as low as $7000."

Q: how is this nissan GT-R 6 cylinder faster than a z06 corvette?
http://carversation.com/2008/03/21/porsche-911-turbo-chevrolet-corvette-z06-and-us-spec-nissan-gt-r-hit-the-racetrack/

A: The hp is close so it comes down to weight and traction. On a higher speed track the Z06 would have a huge weight advantage. On a short tight track the GT-R has a huge traction advantage. The GT-R is also a much more expensive car and is about half way between the Z06 and the ZR1. That money probably went to making the car go faster.
