Q: I own a 2000 Porsche 911. It is well maintained and my daily driver. How long will it last me?
I put 15k mi a year on it and change the oil religiously. I heard these cars can last a few hundred thousand miles without any type of major overhaul (transmission, engine rebuild etc) is this true?

A: It should last 200,000 miles like C7S says, but it also depends on how you drive it. Lots of high power pulls and very short trips will affect the longevity of the car. Also the climate and roads. If you live in a mild climate like So. Calif, then you will not see salt on the roads or sand storms.

Q: How much does an oil change cost on a 2000 porsche 911?
Also, how reliable are these cars and are the parts very expensive?

A: 70 bucks or so if you do them yourself (its a super easy job), including the zillion quarts of synthetic oil. Good news is that its a once per 16000 mile job. and they are reliable, but parts are expensive. I have had almost zero repairs on either of my 996 911s (dont have the 99 C2 anymore). coolant reservoir was the only one I paid for.

Q: What is the best car wax for a silver 2000 Porsche 911 C2?
It's not garaged so I need a durable wax. I would also prefer a wax that lasts a long time (so I don't need to wax every other month). I live in California. Thanks!

A: If you haven't waxed the car in a while you my want to use a cleaner wax and then a carnauba wax and finally a paint sealant, which will keep the car protected and looking like it was justed waxed over time. Mother,Meguiars,Zybol cleaner wax,and Wolfgang deep gloss sealant to name a few, it depends on how much you want to spend and how much time you will put in to it,The more time the better and longer it will look good.

Q: I have a 2000 Porsche 911, whenever I make I hard left turn?
there seems to be a noise coming from the drivers side wheel well. What could this be?

A: If it's a clunk clunk clunk sound, it could be the CV joint

Q: So I bought a 2000 Porsche 911, but a comment about security?
So I bought a 2000 porsche 911 with blue exterior, tan interior, but once i go to my school(friday), entered the student parking lot, parked, got out and took my stuff out and the day went on then school finished and it was going to the parking lot and i saw another high school student trying to steal my porsche. So i looked at him and he opened to door somehow and now he was in and was going to jack it so i ran to my porsche grabbed him out and started kicking the fu*k out of him, i was because i am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, i just kept punching and kicking kicking his fu*k*n a*s, while i was doing that i keep cursing at him for trying to jack my porsche. i swear he was fucken bleeding like crazy, also i grabbed his head and kept hitting it at the roof of the porsche. sh*t he was bleeding i had blood on me really! but then he tried to run so i let him go. he was from myschool because the jacket was the H.S. jacket. My Question is what devices can i put on my porsche to protect it Really i kicked his a*s the porsche's roof actually had ton's of blood on it so i had to clean it. i need a device that theft see is there and they will not try to steal it

A: I don't believe a word you've said,and you are a foul mouth

Q: 2004 Mazda RX-8 or 2000 Porsche 911?
OK, here's the question, I have the chance to buy one of the cars listed in the title. But which one? The Mazda is going for mid teens, has 30k miles but is bright yellow (not my fav), the 911 is going for low 20's, has 60k miles, convertible but has an automatic trans. What would you buy and why?

A: the 911 sounds like a rich grandma car (convertible and automatic? cmooon), I'd go with the rx-8 and have a little fun with the rotary.

Q: 2000 Porsche 911 Or 2002 Chevy Corvette z06?

A: having driven both of the cars in question, it really depends on what you want the car for, and what you like about driving. I owned a 99 911 for 5 or so years, and loved it. Ive also driven a z06 on several occasions. The z06 is a significantly more powerful and faster car. It also can be modified and repaired less expensively than the porsche, and at least in a straight line, has more potential. On paper (like 0-60 times, etc) the z06 is the superior car. Notice that i didnt own a z06. The stuff NOT on paper is where the porsche excels. Its much more refined, handles better, has an infinately nicer interior (the z06's is just pathetic), and feels 1000000x better to drive. Its also much more prestigious, and is a more fun car to drive. The brake and steering feel compared to the vette (which i thought was pretty terrible) is amazing. All the little things are also right (like it has better visisbility, the seats hold better, the gauges are more visible, etc etc) on the P car. Its also a much more gratifying car to learn to drive properly because its fast and responsive, but slightly counterintuitive. Either way though, when you get one or the other, go to a local instructed track drivers education course (porsche club of america does them, as do many other clubs). youll never appreciate how fast those cars are on the street, nor be able to take them to their limit without proper education, or safely unless youre on a track. and my son recently went through this decision as well, and he came out with an 05 subaru WRX STi. Its newer (has a warrenty), and also is very fast and capable on a track (he races with me). Its also got 4 doors and a nice trunk. Its a little more boy-racer though (although he is a very mature individual, and a good driver).

Q: What will get more girls 2000 Porsche 911 or a 2003 Corvette z06?

Q: 2000-2004 Porsche 911 Turbo 0-60 mph?
Do you think the Porsche 996 turbo can do 0-60 mph in 3.6 sec. I read it on a forum. What do you people think, is it possible?

A: More than possible, plenty have replicated this time or better. As I recall, 3.6 seconds is the factory quote, and is probably a little conservative.

Q: Better to get an older 911 or newer boxster?
I'm looking at buying a particular 2000 Porsche 911 (Carrera 2) or 2001 Boxster S at almost the same price (911= 5,000 more). The 911 has twice the mileage as the boxster has but then again its a 911. I have wanted a Porsche for a very long time and have worked hard to get where I am financially and so I want the most for my buck.

A: If you just want a "porsche", get the boxter. But if the carrera is your dream car, go for it. Just be prepared to spend a ton on maintenance. It's worth it.

Q: 911 Porsche convertible lease rates?
What would a 911 Porsche say 2000 sell for? What would it lease for? It's not for me. My ex who has not paid child support in 11 months now drives one yet he has submitted no earnings to CRA in 3 years

A: Michelle, Not enough information to answer your question. Is it a turbo or normally aspirated? Is it a 4wd (Carrera 4)? Does it have automatic or manual transmission? Does it have the optional hard top? Figure out the exact model and options and research the value yourself using kbb.com and edmunds.com. You can then back into the lease payment by assuming a rate of around 10% over 60 months. Just a rough guess would be $400 to $600 a month. Ebay listings attached, with prices ranging from high 20s to mid 30s. In my jurisdiction an able bodied man who has paid no child support for 11 months has committed the crime of child abandonment. Have you looked into this?

Q: what car can i put a porsche 911 motor in??
i have a 2000 911 motor with complete wiring and want to know what is the best car can i put the motor in, i want something not too new

A: I would look into the kit-car world maybe put it in a 50's Porsche Spyder kit. The kits are not that expensive and you have a ton of options with the interior to make your own custom statement. A fiberglass body and all that power it would be very tough to beat you in a race or in looks. Good luck.......

Q: how much does it cost to export a car from america to switzerland?
I would like to know how much it costs to bring a year 2000 911 porsche from the USA into Switzerland. Including shipping, inssurance import duty and any other costs likely.

A: It depends..if you were registered as the car's owner for more than 6 months then you don't pay custom. Transport of a car is between $2500 and $5000. You may have to change certain things, such as lights, speedometer (from mph to kph), exhaust, etc.) Think about the same as transport. So it may cost you up to $10k or more. Though, the USD is weak and car prices are ridiculously low - compared to Europe. Maybe you find somebody who transports the car to Rotterdam and you can pick it up and drive it yourself to Switzerland. This will make everything cheaper again.
